| Note
1: Centaur was across the start line early and
was awarded a time penalty
Note 2: The classes were changed due to there
being only 1 entrant for the normal Class A
bowsprit class. All barges therefore were to
sail as staysail rigged, so Class A was for
the fast staysail barges with iron/steel hulls
and Class B for those with wooden hulls. Class
C was for the slow staysail class (regardless
of hull construction). Championship points were
awarded according to these changed classes.
Note 3: several barges had their engines on
at the start. As it was considered no barge
gained any advantage from this, no penalties
were made, and th barges were allowed to continue
to take part in the race..
